DuPont’s Corian was one of the most popular countertops in the 1980s and 1990s. But it never evolved in the public eye and became a “has-been” countertop. We learned that today’s designers, architects, and homeowners had dormant memories of Corian but had lost sight of its unique properties, especially the fact that it is infinitely malleable. When we showed them this, it changed their perceptions — from countertop to versatile design surface. And it turned a “has-been” into a modern, innovative design brand that was suddenly back in demand.
We created the Corian Moodboard Maker, a fully responsive web app that lets people collect textures, patterns, and images and combine them with various Corian patterns to create stylized, personalized moodboards. This helped transform Corian from an afterthought into a relevant component at the beginning of the design process.
